Nearly 100 years of dedicated service to the Plymouth community
In May 1964, a formation dinner was held at the Continental Hotel. A young aspiring lawyer successfully persuaded 18 other young businessmen to join him in forming Lions Club Plymouth.
On 16th January 1965, the club charter was officially presented with 19 founding members, marking the official beginning of Lions Club Plymouth.
Lions Club Plymouth helped establish the first Lions Club in Cornwall at Looe, spreading the Lions mission across the border.
Established a twin relationship (Jumelage) with Lions Club of Morlaix, France. Members visit on an annual basis - one year Morlaix Lions are hosted in Plymouth, the next year Plymouth Lions are hosted in Morlaix.
Officially registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in the United Kingdom with registration number 1183974, strengthening our commitment to charitable service.
Lions Club of Plym Valley and Plymouth Tamar were encouraged and assisted to become members of our association, expanding our local impact.
Continuing our commitment to community service and international understanding, with ongoing partnerships and local initiatives.
